An award for Planet!Based

We won!

Thanks to you, we can celebrate this success! Dussmann Food Services has won the Marketing Award for Community Gastronomy 2024 with Planet! This award is only given to the most innovative concepts in the industry and this year’s motto was “Impulses for a better future”. We have shown that enjoyment and sustainability can be combined and that this approach is scalable. The award encourages us to roll out Planet!Based as an independent menu line.

In 2023, the project was launched as a nationwide campaign in 50 company restaurants operated by Dussmann Food Services with an additional dish – based on the sustainable Planetary Health Diet. Our long-term goal is to achieve a change in diet to 80% plant-based ingredients. Thank you very much for making this success possible!

What does Planet!Based mean?

Do you want to make a positive difference and do something good for the planet?
We have a simple idea for you: start with your lunch today! Because even with a small decision for our Planet!Based dishes you can make a big contribution to our environment.

Now you may be wondering what your lunch has to do with our planet. The answer is very simple: everything!
It may seem trivial, but our food is essential to the well-being of the planet. More specifically, all food has to be grown, processed and transported. From the field to the plate, a lot of water, energy and fossil fuels are consumed. The greenhouse gas emissions from our daily meals alone are as great as those from all the cars, ships and airplanes on this planet combined.

This is where our Planet!Based dishes come into play. With these dishes, we only put on our plates what is equally good for us humans and the planet. In concrete terms, this means that we use locally grown ingredients and prefer to cook with seasonal fruit and vegetables. We use animal products such as meat and butter more sparingly because they are particularly harmful to our environment.

In short: our Planet!Based dishes are all about 100% goodness on the plate. The diverse recipes are based on the menu of the future. This is based on the Planetary Health Diet, which was developed in 2019 by 37 international researchers from the EAT-Lancet Commission. Spread over the whole year, it looks pretty varied. Conclusion: Planet!Based is delicious variety instead of sacrifice! Bon appetit.
